JOB CARD – IB ENGLISH TEACHER
 

Position Summary:

The English Teacher is responsible for delivering inquiry-based, student-centered, and interdisciplinary instruction aligned with the IB philosophy. The role requires thorough curriculum planning, engaging teaching practices, continuous student assessment, and contribution to a collaborative school environment.

Job Details:

Position: IB English Teacher

Division: International Division

Location: Vijayawada – Penamaluru Campus

Reporting To: Head of School (HOS)

Salary: ₹50,000 – ₹70,000 per month (final salary will be decided based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications)

Core Allocation & Responsibilities:

Teachers will be first assigned to their core subject (English) before being allotted other responsibilities (e.g., SDL, Clubs, Remedial, School Team, Substitute Teaching) to complete the teaching load.

Key Responsibilities:

Organizational Duties:

Study the IB philosophy and curriculum framework.

Prepare and submit unit plans and assessments as per deadlines.

Actively participate in planning meetings, assemblies, and school events.

Maintain punctuality and professionalism in reporting and lesson delivery.

Provide support to students during designated office hours.

Communicate regularly with parents and counselors on student performance.

Guide students in developing portfolios showcasing their learning.

Actively engage in professional development, including submitting research/reflective essays.

Serve as a role model and uphold high standards in conduct and appearance.

Undertake responsibilities such as:

Supervising during breaks

Proctoring exams

Participating in interviews, open houses, and special events

Substituting when needed

Serve as Community Project or EA Supervisor when required.

Maintain classroom infrastructure and ensure a safe learning environment.

Use institutional digital platforms like PowerSchool, ManageBac, Gradebook, etc.

Write recommendation letters for students as needed.

Planning Responsibilities:

Collaborate on lesson and unit planning with peers.

Ensure planning addresses school-wide learning goals.

Accommodate varied learning styles and prior knowledge.

Integrate interdisciplinary connections.

Embed assessment criteria and learning outcomes in plans.

Differentiate instruction based on student needs.

Teaching Responsibilities:

Use diverse teaching strategies to cater to multiple learning styles.

Create an inclusive, engaging, and resource-rich classroom.

Encourage student autonomy and real-life application of knowledge.

Facilitate inquiry and student-led learning experiences.

Address individual learning needs, especially for ESL students.

Provide academic extension or remediation where necessary.

Ensure high standards in student literacy and expression.

Maintain curriculum documentation on ManageBac and within school timelines.

Assessment Responsibilities:

Implement formative and summative assessments aligned with IB standards.

Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.

Use data to drive instructional adjustments.

Encourage self-reflection and peer-assessment practices.

Maintain accurate records of student performance.

Involve parents and students in the assessment process.

Professional Appraisal & Development:

Actively participate in regular performance appraisals.

Seek and utilize opportunities for ongoing professional growth.

Stay updated with educational best practices and IB documentation.

Support and mentor peers when necessary.

Behavior and Safety:

Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.

Model IB Learner Profile traits and attitudes.

Uphold high expectations for student behavior and discipline.

Promote student well-being and report concerns through proper channels.
